Drone Instructor Course — UAS Instructor Rating
Turn your flying into teaching. The instructor rating qualifies you to train remote pilots at an approved ATO — briefings, dual-control instruction, and the judgement to let a student make the right mistakes.
Who this course is for
You hold an RPC and you want to train pilots — at an existing ATO or as part of building your own operation.
Teaching experience isn’t required. Instructional technique is most of what this course exists to build. A current Class 3 aviation medical is required at entry.
What you’ll learn
Theory
50 hours of theory across four modules, covering instructional technique and the course content you’ll be teaching — how to brief, how to demonstrate, how to assess, and the syllabus itself in instructor-level depth.
Practical
3 hours of flight training across four stages:

- Overrides, Recoveries & De-BriefsCloses with Stage Progress Check 4
How training runs
Theory runs in class at Waterfall City, online, or through the e-learning portal. Flight training sessions at Grasslands Flying Club. You advance when every exercise in the stage meets standard.
The internal examination pass mark is 75%, and the course closes with the skills test.
What you leave with
The UAS instructor rating — qualified to train remote pilots at an approved ATO.
