Drone Maintenance Course — UAS Maintenance Technician
Keep unmanned aircraft airworthy. The UASMT course trains you to service, fault-find and repair drones to standard — the bench skills every serious RPAS operation depends on.
Who this course is for
You’re technically minded — electronics, RC aircraft, trade experience — and you want a role in the drone industry that doesn’t require flying.
Operators need technicians as much as pilots: every commercial fleet needs someone keeping it airworthy.
What you’ll learn
Theory
50 hours of theory across five areas:
- Regulations & Airworthiness
- Structures
- Propulsion
- Avionics
- Maintenance Protocols
Practical
15 hours of workshop training across four stages, with a bench Stage Progress Check closing each stage.
How training runs
Theory runs in class, online, or through the e-learning portal. The workshop stages run at Waterfall City, Midrand — real aircraft on real benches. You advance when every exercise in the stage meets standard.
The internal examination pass mark is 75%, and the course closes with the bench competency check.
What you leave with
The UASMT certificate — qualified to service, fault-find and repair unmanned aircraft.
- UAS Maintenance Technician Certificate — your course completion certificate
